A day in Newcastle and surrounding area
A rainy day over the Tyne on the
ferry via North and South Shields in July 2007.
How many old Geordies have made this crossing to work in the now long gone ship yards -what memories -what ruins -what future? The young today may not know the hardships of the past, but they are better off than their fore fathers ever were. Not many passengers on the ferry but this is mid day and the crossing is used a lot at peak hours. Three vessels are used in the operation, which is worked by NEXUS -the Tyne & Wear Public Transport Network. How long before the bridge or tunnel arrives?
